A new feature on Airbnb gives users access to over 2,000 exclusive luxury properties around the world. The feature, named Airbnb Luxe, is for those looking to rent high-end properties, including castles, beachfront villas, entire villages, and private islands, for a special vacation. Airbnb Luxe can be accessed by anyone through a landing page or through the Airbnb homepage.
According to reports, many of the properties listed on Airbnb Luxe were chosen from Luxury Retreats, a Canadian rental company Airbnb acquired in 2017. Each property listed has been judged using a 300-point evaluation on design and functionality that takes into account everything from kitchen appliances to bedroom and bathroom ratios. The home is then visited in person and re-evaluated by a global design expert before it’s listed on the platform.
Luxe homes can be rented for as low as $1,000 a night and as high as $200,000 a night, with prices averaging about $1,500 per night. A private island in French Polynesia called Nukutepipi is listed on the platform and priced at $1 million for a week on the island. A four-bedroom house for eight guests in Los Cabos, Mexico is listed for just under $50,000 per night. Airbnb said it would add more homes from 12 more cities by the end of the year.
Airbnb Luxe also includes the services of trip designers at no extra cost. Trip designers can coordinate everything for the vacation, including trip activities, in-house massages, personal training sessions, child care, and private chefs.
Airbnb currently lists more than 6 million places to stay in more than 81,000 cities and 191 countries. The company has also launched an “Adventures” platform offering 200 extraordinary travel experiences, including a trek through the Amazonian jungle and a UFO-hunting trip in the Southwestern United States.
