Fitbit’s Newest Fitness Tracker Not Sold At Retailers

Fitbit (NYSE: FIT) has a new fitness tracker that you won’t be able to buy in stores. That’s because the new Fitbit Inspire is intended for businesses and insurance companies rather than the consumer market. It is first product by Fitbit that is only intended to be sold to corporations for their employees and health insurance companies for its members.

According to Fitbit, the Inspire is its cheapest device yet. While no prices are displayed on the website, eligible customers won’t need to pay anyway. The device would be given to them by their employer or health insurance provider.

The Inspire is available in two different models. The basic model’s features include activity and sleep tracking, move reminders, burnt calories monitor, goal celebrations, and alerts from a connected phone. This model comes in black and sangria color options, has a battery that lasts up to five days, and is water-resistant up to 50 meters. It can be worn as a wristband or on a clip and has a small touchscreen that displays the time and other information.

There is also a more advanced model named the Fitbit Inspire HR. That model adds heart rate tracking, GPS for fitness tracking, sleep stages monitoring, exercise modes, and cardio fitness levels. The HR’s color options include black, white/black, and lilac.

The CEO of Fitbit, James Park, is leading the company’s focus on its business customers. According to Park, the company currently has 6.8 million users on wellness programs that include Fitbit devices through employers, health plans, and hospital programs. More than 40 Medicare Advantage plans across 27 U.S. states have Fitbit devices as a named covered fitness benefit.
