Walmart Launching Subscription Box For Kids
Walmart Inc. (NYSE: WMT) is teaming up with KIDBOX for a subscription service that will create and deliver packages of kids’ clothing and accessories to customers across the nation. KIDBOX is an online subscription service that creates style boxes based on kids’ fashion preferences and personalities. For every Walmart KIDBOX stylebox purchased, KIDBOX will clothe a child in need through its partnership with Delivering Good.
Walmart says that the subscription boxes can be tailored to your child’s taste. Shoppers will begin by answering questions about their child’s size, style, and types of clothing needed. Stylists will be on hand to ensure that the items are appropriate for the time of year and area where the items are being shipped. The 120 trendy brands available include everything from BCBG to Puma.
According to the announcement from Walmart, the cost will be $48 for each box. Each box will contain four to five items. For returns, the customer must send back the entire box of item to receive the full refund amount. Customers will not be allowed to return partial orders.
Shoppers can sign up for the subscription service at Walmart.com. They have the option of signing up for a one-time purchase or a recurring subscription for up to six months. Subscription services have become a popular option for having consumable goods delivered on a regular basis. Walmart also offers a quarterly subscription for a beauty box filled with samples.
Walmart has been steadily expanding its online and delivery options to better compete with retail competitors like Amazon.com. According to the company, the retail giant currently has about 100 million unique monthly visitors to Walmart.com. Part of the growth can be attributed to the larger number of options available in many categories. For example, the retailer has been quietly growing its online offerings for kids, adding more than one hundred brands online.
